Personality Profile of Medical Students Can Predict Their Success

A
new study by industrial-organizational psychologists evaluates if
giving personality tests to prospective medical students would help
predict which applicants will be successful.
"Our findings show that
personality factors do have a predictive value as to the success rate
of admitted medical students. Considering personality of applicants can
be quite helpful to medical school admissions programs," said Deniz
Ones, a professor in the department of psychology at the University of
Minnesota who conducted the study with colleagues Filip Lievens at
Ghent University in Belgium and Stephan Dilchert from City University

The Dual Diagnosis of Eating Disorder and Diabetes Mellitus   iaedp Symposium 2010

presentation will review what is currently known about the association
of diabetes mellitus and eating disorders. Recommendations for
comprehensive care approaches will be presented. Specific aspects of
inpatient care in an eating disorder residential setting will be
discussed. We will describe the clinical consensus in nomenclature,
epidemiology, risk factors, clinical presentation, and management of
the dual diagnosis of eating disorder and diabetes mellitus. This is an
important association for clinicians to recognize due to the increase
risk of eating disorders in patients with diabetes, increased morbidity
